Donald Nicolson & Melbourne Chamber Orchestra
Friday 21 November 2025 at 7.30pm
Harpsichordist Donald Nicolson brings an infectious enthusiasm and a sparkling musicality to everything he does. This program sees him take centre stage, both as guest director from the keyboard and as the soloist for Bach’s stunning concerto.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a range of MCO players and instruments up close. We’re particularly pleased to feature our own Dr. Emma Sullivan in one of the most famous double bass sonatas from the Baroque period. Other members of our violin section will also be showcased in Corelli’s dynamic Concerto Grosso.
The more modern works featured here include a hidden gem written by Colin Brumby and a new collaboration with exciting Melbourne composer, Melody Eötvös.
Purcell Fantasia Upon One Note Z 745

Bach Harpsichord Concerto No 1 in D minor BWV 1052
